Social Worker for Housing Social Unit
The city of Västerås has removed the personal letter from the application process. We do this to achieve a better and fairer recruitment process. When you submit your application, you will be asked to answer a number of questions that will be an important part of our selection work. Do you want to help create security and stability for people in housing social vulnerability? Here you will work closely with individuals who need support to find their way back to a sustainable everyday life while becoming part of a warm and competent team.
Your Responsibilities
In the housing social unit, we work according to the Social Services Act to investigate, assess, and make decisions about interventions for adults in housing social vulnerability. The target group includes, among others, people with psychosocial issues, harmful use and addiction, domestic violence, victims of crime, or previously homeless individuals.
In the open care team Support and Follow-up, you will work closely with individuals who need support to create security and stability in their daily lives. The work primarily takes place in the client's home and consists of supportive and motivational interventions, supervision, follow-up, and housing social guidance. Clients may have different housing forms based on assistance decisions, such as Housing First, transitional housing, or modular housing.
You will follow up on the housing situation, provide individually tailored support, and work on building relationships so that clients feel secure and dare to reach out when daily life becomes difficult. Documentation is a natural and important part of the work.
The work is carried out both independently and in collaboration with other actors, such as landlords, health care, authorities, and budget and debt counseling. Working hours can be adjusted according to the clients' situations, which may involve home visits even during the evening.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has a genuine commitment to social work and is driven to make a difference for people in vulnerable situations. You are secure and stable and have the ability to build trust in meetings with individuals who are in difficult life situations. The role requires flexibility, patience, and endurance, as support interventions often last for a longer period.
You have an academic degree as a social worker, behavioral scientist, or another academic qualification that the employer deems relevant for the position. You are accustomed to documenting according to the Social Services Act and express yourself very well in Swedish, both orally and in writing. Knowledge of English or other languages is an advantage.
It is beneficial if you have knowledge of administrative law and rental legislation. Since the work involves home visits and travel in the service, a B driver's license for a manual car is required.
We Offer
With us, you will be part of a dedicated and competent work group. The unit consists of 25 employees divided into four teams, each with its team leader. You will always have close access to colleagues and become part of a workplace where differences are seen as a strength and where we help each other move forward. As a new employee, you will receive a well-structured and secure introduction with mentorship support. We also offer regular supervision and continuous professional development in housing social issues. You will work in the Social Services House, where several operations are gathered, providing good conditions for collaboration and support. Here, you will be part of something larger! With warmth and respect, we show initiative in both big and small matters. We live our values in our interactions with each other and those we serve. Every day, all year round, we ensure that Västerås functions. Together with your approximately 11,500 colleagues around the city, you will have Sweden's most important job. If you are not a citizen of Sweden, the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, you must show that you have a valid work permit or are exempt from the requirement to have a work permit.
